The only thing special about these pix is that this is a dirt street in town (and this was taken when the dust was still nearly ankle deep in most places)- and the diligent (likely) woman of the home just beyond the edge of the picture has carefully swept it...and you can see the broom marks in these pix. 
It's a matter of pride to keep the yard (and sometimes sidewalk and street) swept clean. Done with a short twig or straw broom.
I wonder if we are one of the few countries that dont do this? Mex and here do it too:)
