Giving up Chocolate
Giving Up Chocolate
I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking woman who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner.
I took out my wallet, got out ten dollars and asked, 'If I give you this money, will you buy chocolate with it instead of dinner?'
'No, I had to stop eating chocolate years ago', she told me.
'Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?' I asked.
'No, I don't waste time shopping,' she said. 'I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.'
'Will you spend this on a beauty salon instead of food?' I asked.
'Are you NUTS?!' she replied. I haven't had my hair done in 20 years!'
'Well, I said, 'I'm not going to give you the money. Instead, I'm going to take you out for dinner with my husband and me tonight.'
The woman was shocked. 'Won't your husband be furious with you for doing that? I know I'm dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting.'
I said, 'That's okay. It's important for him to see what a woman looks like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments, and chocolate.'
Found this tonight lurking in the depths of my inbox. Your life, of course, is much improved for having seen it, too.

Pet Therapy
Got an email this am... felt like it should be shared with you all. It'll proly help you as much as it's helped me. xo
Sometimes when you are angry with someone, it helps to sit down, take a moment to cool off, and think about the problem.
and this-
Women are Angels
And when someone breaks our wings....
We simply continue to fly.........on a broomstick...
We're flexible like that ....

my friends
I've said more than once that my friends are better than the likes of me deserves... I mean, it, too. But sometimes one of them does or says something that I want with all my might to share around even if it doesn't, you know, make the person look like the genius that they are. (I'm sure.)
ahem
Earlier this week, I got an email. It's cold here. It's snowy here. And with the windshield, it's even colder.
And, as Phyllis says: Believe me, it'd be even colder without the windshield.
And she would know... having ridden around sometimes in the winter on a tractor with no windshield.
Thank goodness for the windshield.

Longevity
A doctor on his morning walk noticed the old lady to the left on her front step smoking a cigar. He walked up to her and said, "I couldn't help but notice how happy you look! What is your secret?""I smoke ten cigars a day," she said. "Before I go to bed, I smoke a nice big joint. Apart from that, I drink 4 bottles of Jack Daniels every week and eat only junk food. On weekends, I watch TV, pop pills, party till 4 am and don't exercise at all."
"That is absolutely amazing! How old are you?"
"Thirty-four," she replied.
you maybe got this as an email, too... oh my...

Need a laugh? Listen to this-The Chocolate Song.
Someone sent it in an email recently... then someone else did... and now someone ELSE is using it in their English class. It's pretty great, really...
Now go find some chocolate! :)

LETTER FROM A FARM KID
Phyllis sent me this recently... just thought you needed a chuckle, too, in case you haven't seen this yet!
(NOW AT Camp Lejeune NC. MARINE CORPS RECRUIT TRAINING.)
Dear Ma and Pa,
I am well. Hope you are. Tell Brother Walt and Brother Elmer the Marine Corps beats working for old man Minch by a mile. Tell them to join up quick before all of the places are filled.
I was restless at first because you got to stay in bed till nearly 6 a.m. but I am getting so I like to sleep late.
Tell Walt and Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your cot, and shine some things. No hogs to slop, feed to pitch, mash to mix, wood to split, fire to lay. Practically nothing.
Men got to shave but it is not so bad, there's warm water.
Breakfast is strong on trimmings like fruit juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, etc., but kind of weak on chops, potatoes, ham, steak, fried eggplant, pie and other regular food, but tell Walt and Elmer you can always sit by the two city boys that live on coffee. Their food plus yours holds you til noon when you get fed again. It's no wonder these city boys can't walk much.
We go on "route marches," which the platoon sergeant says are long walks to harden us. If he thinks so, it's not my place to tell him different. A "route march" is about as far as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys get sore feet and we all ride back in trucks.
The country is nice but awful flat. The sergeant is like a school teacher. He nags a lot. The Captain is like the school board. Majors and Colonels just ride around and frown. They don't bother you none.
This next will kill Walt and Elmer with laughing. I keep getting medals for shooting. I don't know why. The bulls-eye is near as big as a chipmunk head and don't move, and it ain't shooting at you like the Higgett boys at home. All you got to do is lie there all comfortable and hit it. You don't even load your own cartridges. They come in boxes.
Then we have what they call hand-to-hand combat training. You get to wrestle with them city boys. I have to be real careful though, they break real easy. It ain't like fighting with that ole bull at home. I'm about the best they got in this except for that Tug Jordan from over in Silver Lake. I only beat him once. He joined up the same time as me, but I'm only 5'6" and 130 pounds and he's 6'8" and near 300 pounds dry.
Be sure to tell Walt and Elmer to hurry and join before other fellers get onto this setup and come stampeding in.
Your loving daughter,
Carol
ps- this was one of those things that when we were talking about it the other day with our local friends, at least one of them looked at us and said What? Daughter? I don't get it... and the more we tried to explain, the un-funnier it got... weird how humor is so culture-specific...

agnes... again
one more today- cause I just found it in my inbox and it made me laugh out loud for real. ;)
The last frame was what really got me tho:

That's a good question, Trout. Some sort of wildlife, I guess...
G'night, all!
on my feedreader this morning
There was a lot there but these made me laugh and choke and thankful that I don't have teenage boys to keep alive...
actually- here's the link for the source of the above video... you'll notice that only one, I believe, involves girls. What is it with boys and their determination to flirt with danger and death? I had cousins like this; my brothers did some crazy stuff (although not, as far as I know, anything this crazy); and I've met people who can tell about stunts equally hair-raising. Snow boarding off the roof (for lack of a good hill nearby); diving off the roof into the swimming pool below; and then there's that Green Bay/Appleton outfit and their stories, too numerous to number here...

and then ther was this Mutts comic- which was just sorta cute.

WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL??? Try it without looking at the answers...... please don't look down until you do it - you will be surprised!!!!! If you are mathematically challenged - USE A CALCULATOR
1) Pick your favorite number between 1-9
2) Multiply by 3 then
3) Add 3, then again Multiply by 3 (I'll wait while you get the calculator....)
4) You'll get a 2 or 3 digit number.. 5) Add the digits together Now Scroll down .............. Now with that number see who your ROLE MODEL is from the list below: (I've put in some pix to try to stop you from cheating! So quit right now and do your math!)
