dessert tonight

awhile ago, Sharon W emailed me this recipe:

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
1 Coffee Mug

4 tablespoons cake flour (that's plain flour, not self-raising)

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons baking cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

a small splash of vanilla

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well

Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.

Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla essence, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

Notice: The cooking time will vary according to the watts of power your microwave will put out. More watts less time - Less watts more time.

Serves 2

SO! tonight we made it... and here's the evidence

2nd pic added so you can see what the cup looks like afterwards... sort of scary... but doesn't effect the taste!

conclusion: texture is very rubbery (you'd expect that, I think, from a microwave cake) but the taste is good... and it's FAST!!! overall, not bad! and definitely fun!

  2. You know what!?!? Duane and Regina were at our house years ago before any of us had kids and we made something like this. Miss could tell you exactly how it went b/c we made it after that too but this reminds me of that killer dessert. It was so good and so rich we were all sick.

  5. Did try your mug cake recipe the other night. Used an extra-large mug & no spillover. 'Twas very yummy & rich enough to satisfy any chocoholic! It's a keeper & just the right size for an occasional indulgence w/o tons of the evil--I mean delicious--stuff left over staring us in the face =D
