Ehhhhh. I'm missing all right. I didn't intend to not blog but. I haven't been. There is just too much to enjoy and taste and feel and smell in WI right now. I'm completely distracted. Totally.
And- I'm really enjoying driving. Totally.
Ok- so I still can't back up worth a hoot. (What drop off? Did you say... thud. Oops. Squeal. See- I knew there was no drop off. I knew we weren't really dropping off the driveway. Not really. cough cough.)
I have discovered that GPS is amazing. You already knew that? Oh. Well- it's all new to me. Mind you, the one we use has (likely) never been updated so it's a bit hilarious at times to watch the car drive out across the middle of nowhere while Hermione-Know-It-All-GPS frantically recalculates recalculates recalculates and then magically finds herself back on track after all and says calmly 'Continue for 25.3 miles' as if she knew all along you weren't really in outer space. It's not so fun when she sends you down some rabbit track that isn't even a legal road. Or when she simply has no clue that 2346 Simpleton Ave actually does exist (ok- it doesn't but let's pretend. Because sometimes that's the case.) And when she says 'Arriving at destination' and there's not even a house there never mind a driveway, mail box or house number. That's a bit mystifying. Luckily- we are still somewhat smart and able to cope... just keep driving, it'll surely show up.
What's really fun is using Hermione-Know-It-All-GPS with an 80+ year old co-pilot in the passenger seat saying- 'point seven miles? Did she say 0.7 miles? Well I wouldn't have known that.' 'Well that's not the house. I think we'd better keep going.' ;)
And another GPS fact- It totally stunts your geography knowledge development. And it is stunting the ability of some youthful drivers to figure out a map. This, however, has not at all hindered me from using it the past 3 weeks since I've had to navigate mostly on my own.
ok- onward. Some pix. And then maybe- just maybe- I'll do some more posts someday soon with some more pix and thoughts and randomness.
The one story I'm dying to tell is proly better left untold. But let me just say- I have the absolute darlingest nephies! Completely! And- there is video proof somewhere in North America! xo
We had a tour of the Nueske meat plant afterwards- which was fascinating! And we smelled good enough to eat for hours afterwards... just like home-smoked bacon! ;)
And- for a change- there was no shortage of desserts. At all. What a surprise...
In fact, there wasn't much of a shortage of anything! ;)
The table was beautiful. And long.
There was some music. That's my bro on the left!

And there was a fun turkey. Everyone took a feather and wrote what they were thankful for then taped it to Tom T Turkey. There was a nice mix of serious and funny.

OF COURSE WE HAVE MISSED YOU :) Glad you are enjoying the sights, sounds (re-calculating :), and smells of good ol' Wisconsin.

It's fun to read from you again!! I like the Tom Turkey feathers...one says "I'm thankful I'm not a turkey" haha. enjoy the rest of 2011 in WI!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you yesterday. Did I prod you into updating? :D Looks like you are having a good time on your home visit. I hope it works for you to get this way on spring rounds. If you visit my farm, I won't have you wear hair nets and booties. :)
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, Yes! ;)
Deleteit was nice to see you yesterday. and to hear you of course!!
ReplyDeleteMiss you also...so unfair they didn't stick you in our field...I thought that was some sort of rule you come back to the field you left when you head out across the pond...isn't it??? Who do I need to speak to about that??? Anyway hope the nice brothers in our field aren't readers of your blog..ahem...anyway was nice to hear/see you yesterday and wish I'd have found a chance to say hi.
ReplyDeleteI am rolling around ideas in my head of how to get to your area if it's not planned for me! ;)
DeleteIt was so good to see you waaaaaay back in September! And GPS absolutely cannot find our house for all it's worth. It doesn't even get you on the right road. You can't even use Mapquest! We're just unfindable on top of a very large snowbank!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! We have funny GPS stories here , also. My husband is constantly talking back to it trying to educate it/ "her" where she should be telling us to go. He just uses it for the map, really. Enjoy your blog posts when they happen and I am very impressed with the dessert line up and the cheery red and white kitchen! Cute!
ReplyDeleteI do not like GPS's very much. They make me feel brain dead! ha
DeleteYes, I wonder if you are missing... missing in action! So much action going on that you don't have time to update. :)
ReplyDeleteVery fun read! Loved the GPS stories & can I say again how very much happy it made me to get to have you visit?!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI was soooooo happy that worked out! A bonus! ;)
